Description

PTFE Tri-Clamp Gaskets (USA Made) | USA Lab

Our USA-made PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) tri sanitary clamp gaskets deliver outstanding dielectric properties and thermal insulation with an operating temperature range from -400°F to 500°F. As the most chemically resistant plastic known, PTFE is largely unaffected by corrosive liquids, vapors, and gases—making it a top choice for demanding sanitary and process lines.

These gaskets are FDA compliant and meet up to 3A standard requirements. For continuous use, PTFE performs from -320°F to +500°F, maintaining seal integrity across extreme hot and cold conditions.

PTFE has become an industry standard thanks to its excellent resistance to heat, steam, abrasion, acids, petroleum oils, and vegetable oils. It offers good electrical properties, does not age, and features the lowest coefficient of friction among common gasket materials.

Note: PTFE can exhibit cold flow. Maintain proper clamp torque, especially after thermal cycling, to prevent leakage.
Colors available: White and Blue. FDA and USP Class VI compliance.

PTFE Fluoropolymer -320°F to +500°F FDA / USP VI Chemical & Steam Resistant
Extreme Temperatures: Operates from -320°F to +500°F (continuous); withstands cryogenic to high-heat duty.
Chemical Inertness: PTFE is unaffected by most corrosive liquids, vapors, and gases; excellent dielectric/insulating properties.
Sanitary Compliance: FDA compliant; meets up to 3A standard; available in White and Blue.

Why these PTFE Tri-Clamp gaskets?

  • Broad thermal envelope — continuous -320°F to +500°F; excellent dielectric and insulating properties.
  • Unmatched chemical resistance — the most chemically inert plastic for harsh CIP/SIP and aggressive media.
  • Process-ready durability — resists heat, steam, abrasion, acids, petroleum oils, and vegetable oils.
  • Sanitary standards — FDA compliant; meets up to 3A; available in White and Blue for line identification.
  • Cold flow awareness — re-check clamp torque after thermal cycles to maintain leak-free performance.

Technical Specifications

Model PTFE Tri-Clamp Gaskets
Material PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), unfilled virgin grade
Temperature Range (Continuous) −328°F to +500°F (−200°C to +260°C)
Hardness (Typical) Shore D 55–65
Compression Set / Wear Excellent wear and deformation resistance; low friction; moderate cold flow under compression—avoid over-torquing
Chemical Compatibility Outstanding resistance to acids, bases, solvents, oxidizers, and CIP/SIP chemicals; not recommended for molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine
Color Options White (standard)
Compliance FDA 21 CFR 177.1550; 3-A Sanitary 18-03; USP Class VI available; EU 10/2011 food-contact compliant upon request
Connection Type Tri-Clamp / sanitary clamp fittings (ASME BPE / ISO 2852 compatible)
Typical Applications Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food & beverage, chemical processing, general lab and sanitary service lines
Appearance Machined or molded solid PTFE gasket with smooth, non-stick sealing surfaces
Storage & Care Store in a cool, dry area away from UV and mechanical stress; avoid stacking under heavy load; inspect before use for creep or deformation
Notes PTFE offers the broadest chemical and temperature resistance of any gasket material but lacks elasticity—re-torque clamps after thermal cycling
Selection Guidance Choose PTFE for aggressive chemical media, high-temperature applications, or frequent sterilization; for improved resilience, consider envelope or elastomer-core designs

FAQ

What is PTFE and why use it for sanitary gaskets?

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a fluoropolymer with exceptional chemical resistance, dielectric strength, and low friction—ideal for aggressive media and sanitary processing.

What is the continuous operating temperature?

For continuous service, PTFE gaskets are rated -320°F to +500°F, covering cryogenic to high-heat applications.

Are these gaskets FDA/USP compliant and 3A suitable?

Yes. They are FDA compliant, meet up to 3A standard, and have USP Class VI compliance.

What is cold flow and how do I manage it?

PTFE can slowly deform under load/temperature cycling (cold flow). Re-torque clamps after heat/cool cycles to maintain a secure seal and prevent leakage.
